About Us

The Blacksnape Community Group was formed around 2006  to campaign for road safety measures on the Roman Road

We were sucessful in that we managed to get a speed sensitive sign at the Red Lion, and  a mini roundabout at the junction with Marsh House Lane.

In addition we held a carol concert at the Red Lion (which we hope to repeat) and led a walking party  to the Strawbury Duck.

It is hoped the website will encourage further communtiy activities in the village.

Some suggestions for future activities:

Social: Barbecue, carol concert , other

Campaigns: Review road safety measures- follow up? Britain in Bloom; Amenities at Blacksnape Playing Fields;  acquisition of grants; maintenance of  drystone walls.

Community: History society; produce exchange; police / local authority iaison
